The Academy

The Academy is a year-round, indoor, air-conditioned, softball and baseball teaching facility. It has an on-going schedule of Group Lessons for hitting and pitching, as well as seasonal camps. All instructors are independent contractors. Contact them directly for all appointments and cancellations at the numbers listed below.

Baseball pitching coach since 1975, Dale has experience at all levels, from Little League to Professional. His local coaching positions include Beyer High School, Modesto Junior College and Stanislaus State. For ten years he has also coached with major league organizations, including the Chicago Cubs and Montreal Expos. During his years at Modesto Junior College, more than 10 of his pitchers were drafted by Major League Baseball. From 2005 to 2008 Dale was affiliated with the Colorado Rockies as bullpen pitching coach with the Modesto Nuts Baseball Team.

Local baseball and softball standout, Mark Mead offers hitting and throwing lessons for baseball and softball. He is the number one hitting instructor, with more students than anyone else in the Modesto area.

Jimmy Dyson has more students, and gives more pitching lessons than any coach in the Modesto area. His teaching area includes 7 pitching mounds and drill areas and a video review area where he utilizes the most current edition of Right View Pro, sports analysis software.
His credentials include: Pitching instructor since 1988, Pitching Coach for the Modesto Junior College Women's Fastpitch Team, 14 years of experience as a high school and traveling team coach.

Two of his 1998 students were in the California Top Ten Win List, and many have earned California and out-of-state college scholarships.

Fastpitch Pitching

Debbie is recognized as one of the top private teaching instructors in the business. During her fastpitch coaching career at St. Francis High School, Sacramento State and San Jose State, she produced top ranked teams as well as All Conference, All Region and All American players. A local standout at Downey and Modesto Christian High School, Chris went on to play college ball at Cal Poly Pomona. Between 1989 and 1998, Chris played professionally for the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets. Greg is a certified hitting coach with over 20 years of coaching experience. He offers hitting, fielding and base running instruction for baseball and softball players. He does private lessons, group lessons and team clinics. Greg uses many tools including video analysis to help hitters improve their game. He teaches hitters how to incorporate the keys to successful hitting into their own style. Greg has been trained and certified by MLB hitting coach Dave Hudgens. He uses the same methods Dave uses to train hitters and hitting coaches. Greg teaches the proper swing mechanics, how to improve vision skills and the mental keys to hitting. Kevin McCarthy has more professional students, than any instructor or coach in the Modesto area. His teaching area includes 1 pitching mounds, drill areas, a velocity training area, and a gym. Where he utilizes the most current edition of arm care and velocity sports analysis. He give fielding, hitting, throwing, and speed and agility lessons. His experience in coach is 5 years of coaching youth travel teams and high school and college baseball. Kevin McCarthy armed with a degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Health and Wellness is now teaching motor development for youth athletes. His goal is to increase the maturation of athletic skills at a younger age. He has conducted thousands of hours of camp, clinics, and individual training sessions. Kevin is a role model, a leader, has played with many professionals, and now is a personal trainer to those athletes in the off season. Kevin was a two sport athlete at CSU Stanislaus and was named All-West Region and Pre-Season All American second basemen.
